FUEL Highlighted at ADDYs

FUEL, the Hiawatha, Iowa-based design collaborative, burned brightly on ADDY night, receiving 10 ADDY Awards — including three Best of Category honors — at the 40th Annual Advertising Federation of Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Addy Awards event in February. The seven-year-old firm was recognized for its ground-breaking, high-caliber design projects in a wide range of categories for clients across the country.

Conducted by the American Advertising Federation, the annual ADDY competition recognizes and rewards creative excellence in the art of advertising. In the local ADDY Awards event, three nationally renowned professionals reviewed hundreds of entries submitted by dozens of area advertising and design firms to select the best work within the market.

    FUEL projects earned Best of Category awards in the areas of Direct Marketing, Consumer or Trade Publication, and Elements of Advertising. FUEL also received Gold ADDYs in the categories of Specialty Advertising, Other Merchandise; Campaign, Four-Color; and Illustration, Illustration Campaign, and collected Silver Awards in the categories of Packaging, Campaign; Campaign, Flat; and Logos (two awards).The awards recognized FUEL’s work on behalf of clients ranging from John Deere Construction & Forestry and Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery to Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries and CarePro Health Services.

                                    Bill Bollman is FUEL’s Creative Director. Before co-founding FUEL in 2001, he worked for Horizon Communications, JW Morton and Basler Design Group. Bill studied Illustration at Hawkeye Tech in Waterloo, Iowa. An expert in the “old ways” of hands-on print production, these skills influence his work in the digital world to this day. His work throughout his career has been featured in international publications including Graphis, How International Design, Communication Arts, and The One Book as well as numerous design annuals and reference books.
