FUEL-Directed Video Reaps Industry Honors

People from all over the world are checking out the phenomenal talents of World Champion Juggler Doug Sayers of Whatsup Juggling, thanks to a promotional video created last year by MVP Video Production of Cedar Rapids in collaboration with FUEL.

This year the eye-popping video also caught the attention of three prestigious international organizations that honor professional video and film makers who are raising the bar for their industry, according to Jeff Zahrt, co-owner of MVP. The project earned MVP a Gold Communicator Award, an Aegis Award, and a Silver Telly — the highest honor given in the Telly competition. “The Telly is equivalent to an Oscar for independent production companies,” Zahrt says.

The Whatsup Juggling video was designed to build on the name and identity created by FUEL for the gifted 22-year-old juggler as he prepared to launch his professional career, Zahrt says. “We really wanted to make the video interesting, fun and entertaining and bring some awareness, hype and energy about who Doug is and how amazing his show is.

”FUEL storyboarded and art directed the video and produced the graphics. “They had already branded Doug — his look and feel — so we emulated that as we were shooting and putting it together,” Zahrt says. “Their input was crucial from a design and artistic aspect. If we know artistically how they’re approaching it, we can do the same thing with our own twist, so that everything supports the brand. They gave us input and design and ideas. It was wonderful working with them.”
